What a beautiful morning, in between two wet and miserable spring days.
There were 40 riders entered to race the challenging U33 course this year, representing 15 different clubs. They were given a warm welcome at our new HQ and briefed on road conditions for the day before they set off to warm up. Marshalls drifted off to their locations, and all was ready. First rider off at 10:05, followed by the rest at 1-minute intervals. These riders included 9 strong women (the highest number ever, by far). Most age categories were covered, including two over 70s. It seemed no time at all between sending off the last riders and checking in the first finishers. The course record was broken by two minutes by Jake Sargent, the national 100 mile TT record holder, with a time of 55:18. Liz Kemp was fastest woman and Pronto won the men’s team prize.
Well done to all who took part!!
